@Moon you got the pro max right? apparently the back glass is fragile to bends. may be a fluke, maybe a case will fix, either way be careful https://youtu.be/IS0SItAzEXg?t=431
@Moon some of the comments say cases may not even stop it from happening upon a drop or whatever. like most apple product controversies there'll be loads of FUD for a couple months before a solution is found. applecare+ monthly might be a good idea rn (i got it too, will cancel by ~january)
@why my current phone kept falling on the floor and now the screen is messed up, so this will happen to me. I used to be perfectly careful but it's probably a function of getting older.
@noyoushutthefuckupdad@Moon yeah the inside is aluminum and only the frame on the outside is titanium lmao. some theories are the titanium is so nonbendy it puts too much pressure on the glass which has some give. amplified on the plus size models where the glass is larger and thus bends more easily
@Moon@why one of those CAT phones, aka heavy duty/industrial "Rugged phones" ones. they weigh a ton (~~500+g) but ive managed to not break mine in over a year despite falling with it multiple times in deep water, dropping it in the river (on the coast), dropping it on sharp granite rocks, climbing with it, dropping it from sensible heights (5 meters or 15 feet), also dropped it from the bird watching tower down over 20 meters when i was on it with someone i forget who. been sweated and mudded and rained through countless times, kicked it (accident), hit the chassis multiple times with my handsaw (there are several small dents from this in the phonecasing), and the infinite crushing and bludgeoning forces from my climbing harness and various climbing movements, havent affected the phone at all outside minor cosmetic effects (see handsaw sentence)
@lebronjames75@why there is a high quality case for phones called an otterbox, I should consider getting a rugged case for this thing immediately. this phone is going to be gigantic even without a ruggedized case lol
@lebronjames75@why the number one reason my phone kept dropping though was, my bedside table's surface is compltely smooth. if I set my smooth phone on there, for a couple hours it very slowly slides to the edge and then falls off while I'm asleep, waking me up.
@lebronjames75@Moon yeah phones like this are "special use case" and you 100% qualify. despite iphones costing a million dollars theyre for city slickers who sit around at home and maybe go on hikes and stuff. samsung used to make a "rugged" line of their flagships which was basically like a builtin otterbox case, which strikes a good middleground between giant indestructible chad phone and thin weak twink pretty phone
