@thomasfuchs The only differentiating factors I've found so far are:
- tricking software into running my next tabletop RPG session is infinitely funnier than sad randomized monkey hexagons
- and a hell of a lot cheaper than hoarding GPUs and ASICs

@thomasfuchs I’m unwilling to claim it’s better. But it’s definitely different.
Its output sits in the stream with stuff we use and need, where crypto was trying to create a new stream.
If crypto is bad you can just ignore it. If LLMs are bad, they have still filled your stream with shit. And either way, you can’t ignore it, because it’s fucking everywhere.
I do think LLMs will produce something of value. But their net worth will be wildly negative because of all the shit.
@thomasfuchs I think it’s possible there’s more to LLMs than crypto. But I also thought purpose built LLMs would be better than more general ones.
I’ve found this to not be the case at all, they’re worse in my experience so far.
I think there *could* be more there but my confidence in that is going down not up.
Everyone rushed to get on the bandwagon (just like crypto of course) and what have we seen out of that exactly? Not much at all.
