Today one of my teachers introduceh SketchUp to us.
If he thinks that I'm going to use that instead of #librecad and @FreeCAD is because he's crazy. Lmao.
And for making things worse, SketchUp is a webapp. ??

@SrEstegosaurio If educators do this, it would be nice if they gave a obligatory heads-up about what proprietary vs #FLOSS is What 'vendor lock-in' and changing license/agreements means for future workflows. Gives the student the option of consent to the implications of investing their time in proprietary software.
@pixelherodev @SrEstegosaurio Time are a-changing.
We're seeing more interest, especially because of shenanigans of proprietary CADs are pulling on users. Hopefully this generation coming up is more savvy about such things and will request this type of awareness in the educational system.
@FreeCAD @SrEstegosaurio If educators cared about student consent, the education system would be different at every level.
Not to mention, if educators cared about software lock-in, they *wouldn't be using it*.
I don't think I've ever met anyone who was concerned enough about it to say something, but not so concerned as to avoid it.
It's always either, "I don't care," "I don't have the *time* to care," (which I'm a lot more sympathetic to), or "Yeah, I use free software wherever possible."
@Mek101 @SrEstegosaurio Depends on who's using it. For example: #ppemawm
@SrEstegosaurio @FreeCAD Yeah but Freecad is borderline unsuable
