Tutorial: Using the Measure tool in Version 1.0 Amongst the many changes you may have noticed in version 1, the Standard Measure tool icon has changed from an image of a tape measure to a set of Vernier Calipers. It’s not just the icon that’s changed though, the underlying measuring tools have been improved and expanded.
Just a reminder about #FreeCAD activity and presence at #fosdem2025. We have meetups, hackathons and working days from the 28th January at various venues as well as a stand with our great friends @kicad at FOSDEM itself. More information about our activities are on this blog post. We look forward to seeing you there. https://blog.freecad.org/2024/11/04/fosdem-and-kicad-freecad-day-2025/
Fantastic to see this article about #FreeCAD and #OpenFOAM being used to perform CFD analysis on #rocket designs. Lots of mentions for Dave Carter who is a fabulous FreeCAD contributor and creator of the Rocket Workbench. Tutorial: Festive Tree Decoration, Using the Revolution Tool! The FreeCAD community is a wonderful diverse place and certainly not everyone in the community will be involved in traditions of bringing trees into their homes and then decorating them! However a festive tree decoration, in the shape of a tree, can be a good mini project for playing with the Revolution tool. #freecad#CAD#tutorials

FreeCAD 1.0 Release Candidate 4 is out We've just released the fourth v1.0 release candidate, you can download it on GitHub. There was no official announcement of RC3 yesterday because we discovered a regression immediately after releasing the builds.
We are sad to announce that earlier this week, Bradley McLean "bgbsww" passed away due to unforeseen health complications.
Brad joined the project a little less than a year ago. Like many contributors, he started with small patches here and there. Building on these early contributions, Brad worked his way up to tackle one of the most serious challenges in the project : porting and revamping toponaming fixes developed by RealThunder. https://blog.freecad.org/2024/10/08/rip-bradley-bgbsww-mclean/ #Announcement
Major FEM workbench improvements for FreeCAD 1.0 FreeCAD 1.0 brings a true revolution. But apart from the TNP mitigation, built-in Assembly workbench, material handling rework, and major Sketcher improvements, there’s a less common module that received many updates – FEM.
WIP Wednesday 3 September 2024 This week in FreeCAD development:

PaddleStroke fixed a bug with geometry copy-pasting and another bug where on-view parameters would use numeric input for the wrong constraint in certain scenarios.
AjinkyaDahale fixed another bug that would prevent users from escaping the autosnapping of circles with autoconstraint enabled.
