   Great news: newly updated fall COVID booster vaccine is not only •available to• but •recommended for• everyone ages six months and older. Everyone.

   There was concern the CDC would only recommend it for the highest risk groups, but “[CDC committee] members strongly pushed back against this possibility.”

   AMA liaison: "There is no group that clearly has no risk from COVID."

     “The data continues to show that COVID risks extend to every group, not just those at the highest levels of risk. For instance, one CDC surveillance system found that of children (ages 17 and under) who died of COVID-19 in a hospital between January 2022 and June 2023, half had no underlying medical conditions.”

     Get the booster. It should be in pharmacies in a matter of days.

     @inthehands I'm more afraid of a fucking car accident than this hype cold that we are all vaccinated against

     Its a non story, we have the vaccines. Literally the only people who need to be concerned are the immuno compromised And I feel very sympathetic to them but lets be real thats like one percent of the population if not a bit less

     Yeah, that’s a tough one, and I can’t get a clear answer to it either — I think because nobody has one.

     FWIW, I got an extra booster last spring. Apparently nobody stops you if you just sign up for you.

     @inthehands I'd love to seen some guidance on_when_ is the optimal time to get it, which has gotta depend on the recency of previous boosters and/or infections, and the assumption that we're not getting another one for a whole year.
