There is a fundamental difference between having a blocklist that targets actual racist/sexist/Nazi hate speech and intimidation; and having a "blocklist" that uses "hate speech" and antiracism as a cover for the actual agenda of a porgrom of transgender anarchists and their Indy Left allies.
The first is legitimate protection.
The second is....blatant targeted censorship and petty vendetta bullshit.

Nope, you don't target people who are proven antiracists and opponents of actual bigots and Nazis with the tag "hate speech" and "edgelord" and justify vendettas against instances for calling out blatant lies and smear campaigns unless you are being deliberate in your targeting.

this sounds like the kind of social climbing garbage i've come to really hate listening to. certain people are incapable of oppressive behaviour because they're "proven" (by who, for what, and how does that make them magically incapable of being a shithead?), "anti-racist" (this is a process, not a label one permanently applies to oneself for social kicks), or "opponents of nazis" (doesn't make one incapable of racism)? that's a whole bunch of violently cliquey bullshit designed to protect certain people from criticism because you've determined them to be magically infallible. fuck that noise entirely.

Ummm....perhaps you have forgotten about how some of the instigators behind TBS were busy attempting to run Nina Illingworth off of the Fediverse because she stood firm that "Pig Empire" was not an antisemitic dog whistle, and because she was an Indy Left trans woman?
I know Ro was not one of the main instigators, but those were were a major part of forming TBS, and their initial standards of blacklisting instances were, shall we say, quite arbitrary.

Also..."social climbing"??? Moi?? Really?? I have said consistently that I have no issue with Ro's intentions of using blocklists against obviously bigoted, racist, or otherwise damaging hate speech. It's how it was abused for Pixie's personal antitrans vendetta that I challenged them.
And exactly where in Thee Hell would I climb to? I'm Black, damn near a Communist, a sex radical, and disabled to boot. Getting to the ladder would be a trying effort.

Bad choice of words on my part, I cede that. No, what TBS did and is doing is NOT even close to anywhere being compatible to an actual pogrom; I just at the moment chose a bad analogy. I'll go ahead and repudiate that analogy right now.
Having said that, my issue was not with Ro, but with the collaborators of the attempted smearing of NI using TBS for their own side agenda.

i'm just seeing more cliquey bullshit here. nevermind how extremely fucked up it is to say TBS is carrying out a pogrom because it lists some people whose behaviour might suck. "i don't think that anymore" doesn't seem like enough of a retraction because you don't seem to care what a violent overstatement that is. is TBS breaking into peoples homes, murdering them, harrassing them for existing, burning down businesses, and causing general chaos and havoc, the way that Israel did to Palestinians for months before Oct 7? why not go all the way and compare TBS to the SS, for full absurdity.

I still don't understand how my defending her from a slanderous and baseless accusation amounts to "clique-seeking bullshit", especially considering how much Pixie, Oli, and the rest seem to have developed their own clique. I toot for myself and myself alone. My views are my own, and nobody else's. And if a comrade and cyberfriend is being slandered wrongly, I will without hesitation come to his/her defense. Full bore.
