    As expected.

    Via Anna Bower:

New: Mark #Meadows asks Judge Jones to stay his order denying Meadows's bid to move #Fulton County criminal case to fed court. Meadows will seek expedited appeal at 11th Circuit & wants to prevent the state court from entering a verdict while he pursues appeal.

That was quick: Judge Jones orders expedited briefing on Meadows's emergency motion for a stay pending appeal. Fulton County's response due tomorrow at 12 p.m. #legal

@GottaLaff Meadows' motion cites Nadler vs Mann for the claim that the entire case should be removed if any part of it is based upon federal employment - sounds pretty slam dunk against GA...

... Until you read the case, which (1) is civil under the FTCA where the Feds already certified the employee was within the scope of duties, and (2) the court held that the district court had discretion whether to remand the non-duty related claim back to the state - Meadows' brief is misleading.

@GottaLaff Lawyers like using convoluted sentence structure, double-negatives, a sprinkling of Latin, and then the "heretofores", etc.

They think that making the law a black box which only lawyers can understand somehow elevates us. But as both Willis and Jack Smith are proving, lawyers can write powerful, well-sourced briefs which are also in plain English. No need to impress with fancy words.

@CarlG I'm glad you make the effort for me. I never understand legalese. It always seems to use double negatives or convoluted sentences that I can't follow. Esp. on no sleep : )

@GottaLaff Thanks. I don't know this area of the law, so can't contribute as much as many others, but since I am a lawyer, I do (at times) at least know how to read a case.
