    Are there differing symptoms with #Eris vs. #Pirola?

    My best friend & her teen daughter both just got COVID & I'm trying to offer help & information to someone who took all the precautions through most of the pandemic, but was told, & wanted to believe, that the pandemic was over.

    Please do not shame her to me, someone who's suffered a lot for raising COVID alarms & trying to educate people that #COVIDIsntOver.

    I don't need to hear it, I'm really worried for her, & I will block you.

    #COVID

      @chargrille @hannu_ikonen

      12 weeks of radical rest (as much as humanly possible, given life circumstances).
      At the very least: no running, no jogging, no walking a super-active dog, no work (if possible).
      RADICAL REST.

      It isn't relapse you need to be concerned about - it's #LongCovid
      In the acute phase, relapse can happen even with rest.

      @hannu_ikonen

      Thanks. I've urged her to do her best to rest and relax and not to push herself to resume "normal" activities in the days after her acute symptoms subside. Though I haven't followed discussions of this as closely as I used to, my understanding is that this can push people into relapse/chronic symptoms.

      @chargrille Glad to hear. Hope for the best, and they're preparing for otherwise so theyve done their part. Hope they can relax as time is the great revealer here, not much else to do.

      Thank you! Super helpful! Yes, he has already reached out to the PCP about the exposure. I think they are scared & so in that phase where they've convinced themselves they managed to reduce the chance of exposure to zero. Thankfully they did do more than most, & kept her masked around him when they were together last weekend, so there's a chance they didn't pass it to him.

      @chargrille 1. I do not,so i boosted in case anyone did. Sorry!

      2. If theyve had an exposure they could reach out and ask for it from a PCP preemptively. At a minimum, it puts the PCP on alert to send it to a pharmacy once symptoms start.I do not believe they need a direct positive test, just exposure and subsrquent symptoms. I could be wrong but it doesnt sound reasonable to gate it behind + Test when at home tests have a hefty false neg rate

      1. Do you know any avenues she can use to get her virus typed?

      2. It's probably too late for her to get Paxlovid, but we are worried about elderly family members & I am curious at what point they can ask for it. Do they need a positive test? If so, how does the need for early Paxlovid intervention jibe with many people in recent weeks/months not testing positive until 5 days post symptoms?

      Thanks for any thoughts you have!
