Coffee lady: what's your name?
Me: Ned
Coffee lady: *writes "Dan" on lid*
There's something about my name that Asian people simply cannot comprehend.

@ned They (chinese mostly) are not good at certain consonants at the end of words. Josh is as bad as Ned, trust me.
@ned same for me with central Americans and "Todd". I became 'Tobb' 🤷
@Sophistifunk I had some Japanese friends that would call me "Neddosan" because Japanese doesn't have words that end in "D"
@ned yeah, but the Japanese are like the Italians, in that they’ll just add a vowel on the end. A in Italy, O in japan as a rule. But the Chinese have to make a bigger change to the word to grasp it, I think because they have more sounds to choose from so don’t chop things up so much to get the same info density.
@ned back masking
@philcolbourn LOL
@ned I keep getting 'Dan' on my coffee orders, maybe try saying your name is Ben?
