Mastodon Migration
Threads now has a Supplemental Privacy Policy (https://help.instagram.com/515230437301944) regarding their policies relating to "Third Party Services" like Mastodon. Should Threads interconnect with Mastodon via #ActivityPub, this addresses what they will do with our data.
Note that they will collect information about anyone "allowing Threads users to follow you or interact with your content". The information they collect will include your profile, your content, and your interactions.

@mastodonmigration Somehow I doubt this will hold long against the #GDPR. Collecting *anyone*'s data requires informing them *prior* to the collection and getting their *informed consent*. A simple follow won't be enough.

@mikey @mastodonmigration The data exchanged as part of federation are covered by the GDPR, as a use of the data necessary to provide the service.
In the Threads case, the problem is not if they use data to cross-federate -- that's just providing the expected service. The problem is in *any other use* of the data.

@aaribaud @mastodonmigration Speaking of which, how are mastodon instances handling that? Data from users are shared to each instance server.. without users agree to remote instances terms. Your comment just made me think of that.
