   @mmin If you ask me: assume bullshit, and you'll seldom be wrong, but it can be bullshit in interesting ways or for good causes at times.

     I’ve read a couple of academic articles on blockchain recently for a project. Not an expert by any means, but blockchain as a sociotechnical phenomenon mostly confuses me. It’s supposedly simultaneously relevant and worth constructing research agendas for, and also a big joke and a solution in search of a problem. Same thing as with AI: how on Earth to distinguish the hype and bullshit from the actually relevant stuff?
