   @noracodes HackerNews is so incredibly reactionary it's shocking honestly. I feel like 90% of the people there are unironically either LessWrontg, NRx, Peterson-types, or basically essentially those 3 but not name-brand. I had to force myself to stop engaging there because every time it was just an awful stupid stressful thing.

     @Alephwyr @emurphy @noracodes there's a lot more to it than that tbh I just don't feel like going into it. They're very misogynistic and awful toward women among them who come out with sexual assault allegations, they act in a very cult like way, their approach to reason is mostly just cargo cult rationality to justify whatever they already think or want to believe, they very often buy into literal scientific racism, and so on.

     @emurphy @anarchopunk_girl @noracodes LessWrong is made up of men who think they're at the forefront of reason, and that can dovetail with transphobia easily, but I wouldn't say they're more transphobic as a readership than average (more racist yes).      @Alephwyr @emurphy @noracodes also that essay was the most horrifying thing I've read in awhile, Jesus Christ. But perfectly in line with what I know about how LessWrongers operate.
