@thomasfuchs presumably it upgrades the architecture of your home.
Maybe it puts in new windows? A more efficient fridge?

@thomasfuchs Here’s a good overview: https://www.homekithelper.net/tips/ios-16-matter-thread-new-architecture
@thomasfuchs The primary things you’ll see on upgrade are that it’s more reliable and more efficient, as the support article says. The new architecture doesn’t expose any specific new features.
@thomasfuchs wasn’t this rolled out like two years ago
@thomasfuchs It still doesn’t fix Siri not always being able to access devices that are working perfectly well in the Home app, but why would they fix Siri?
@thomasfuchs It's about support for the Matter standard https://developer.apple.com/apple-home/matter/ There are UI changes but I can't remember what
@thomasfuchs They definitely still know how to sell things. As I understand the upgrade, a home hub is now required (at least that’s what it claimed when I tried the upgrade). If you don’t have a HomePod or an Apple TV, you’ll need to do some shopping😀
