@breizh yes, the traffic lights in the Netherlands are a whole other level of intelligent.
The YouTube channel Ontario Traffic Man made a video about the details of when the red signal happens on Dutch traffic lights. It's genius:

You see the light turn red as soon as the car passes, then it immediately turns green again. 3 times in a row!

The screenshot shows the pedestrian light turning green in a frame where the car has just finished passing it.
The car probably went through the orange light, but compared to what we see in other countries where the light stays red for pedestrians for ridiculously long periods of time…
