    You know the deal. Ohio just narrowly avoided a horrific election result again, and once again a part of the US was saved by "young" voters. So everyone is restating the same nonsense about how "young" voters will save us, or how the older generation is more "conservative" or how people get more "conservative" as they get older.

    "Young" voters will not save us.

    People do not get more conservative as they get older.

      If it weren't for:
      * early voting
      * massive effort by Black folk to overcome voter ID restrictions
      * herculean effort to secure new polling places and tell all the Black folk where to vote in this weird election
      * Polling places on university campuses

      This would have passed, despite 70% of the population not wanting it to pass. Look at the results from counties outside of Cleveland and Columbus.

      Most of the things in the above list are under attack.

      Whenever I talk about voting "narrowly avoiding disaster" I am never talking about voting *intent*. Ever. I'm always talking about voter *ability*. Disenfranchisement and racism. Always.

      Yes, more than 70% of the country and Ohio wants common sense reproductive rights. Intent. But...

      In this weird election:
      * Over 66,000 voters in Franklin County alone, had their polling place moved. (Where the Black folk are).

      * There's a new restrictive voter ID law in place as of April.

      @mekkaokereke This graph by John Burn-Murdoch of the FT is being shared, and his analysis suggests Millennials are the first group not getting more conservative as they age (in US/UK, at least).

      I immediately thought of this post you made and so was skeptical of the graph. I trusted John's informative work during the height of the pandemic, so I wonder where this analysis goes wrong.

      Appreciate your thoughts, if you have a moment, please.

      @mekkaokereke Gah, I found this thread and then somehow completely missed that you'd already answered my question. Sorry about that, and appreciated.
