@thomasfuchs but it's an electron application now, which means it's capable of consuming gigabytes more memory than a good IRC client ever was
@ukscone terminals had split-screen features forever which you could also use for that, I give them the benefit of "GUI window" doubt.
@thomasfuchs iirc we had "open chat (whisper/private) in new window before we even had windows. at least i seem recall that sort of functionality on RUB & Altger
@thomasfuchs thread windows are also incredibly busted in my experience.
I should probably just keep using it in the browser. Then everything is easy.
