     @ned yes. Yes it is. If you compare it to the birth and death rates of the black plague it is probably worse devastation than that period which really took a while to recover. And that is when people wanted to have children.

     @watteva It's funny, most people seem to expect that there will be some kind of extreme right-wing backlash to all this in a few decades or so. But even if there is, I don't believe it will solve anything. It will not be the retvrn to tradition we expect. Technology's ability to maintain the current structure of society will remain steadfast until we have reached levels of devastation not seen in 1000's of years. we will have to experience near extinction level events.

     @ned Ive got so many single friends who are perfectly dateable drives me nuts, especially the women in their 30s who are running out of reproductive time. Ive become that guy at social events telling them to get their act together. I was saying to my wife the other day that we should start hosting singles nights.

     @ned for singles night I was more thinking have some single friends over for dinner with the family, kids are in bed by 730, then grownup hang out time after. It sounds silly but I feel some duty to help the declining birthrate (my wife and I are unable to have more kids) and I wish my single friends were blessed with kids.

     @cook I was thinking proper meetup + encourage everyone to bring family. That's probably 40ish ppl. Too big for most people's house. We could do a park BBQ like last time. Or a pub. If we go pub it will be easier and might encourage more people. But will require confirmed RSVP numbers.
