   Something I'll say about my decades of journalism, videography, and general media activism: I was so focused on being an anti-capitalist I forgot to remember the fact that "non-profit" never meant "non-fundraising"; I let indie cinemas keep all the box office takings, took no revenue, and paid everyone but myself, and neglected to secure any sustainable plan. Most of that was back before the rise of social media and online promotion. I was very "indy media" (as well as often IndyMedia!) Credit where it's due to folks being way smarter now than I ever was! #GuerrillaJournalism #GuerrillaFilmmaking #documentary

     On a related note, my old school web sensibilities might be sort of back in vogue now in many ways (!), but keeping a #blog on my own site without subscriptions over two decades was also foolish. I'm wondering if there's an ethical #FOSS alternative to stuff like Substack where I could import all my old blog posts and start a free subscription base? I don't mean WordPress either - in my experience people don't seem to intuitively subscribe to my site through WordPress (sadly...and I love WordPress btw!) #FediTips #Fediverse

     Doing your own WordPress (or Drupal or…) subscription setup, with an easy e-mail address entry box and call-to-action, should work as well as anything. For blog-specifically there's Ghost and Bear Blog https://bearblog.dev/ (and others, but those i know have e-mail subscription).

     Your best bet, though, is likely WriteFreely, https://writefreely.org/ – allows subscribing by e-mail *or* the fediverse (which Drupal and i think WordPress can do too but that takes work).
