@SuperLutheran One thing I don't think fatbrains get enough credit for is how poor most of our fruit and veg is today. One of our neighbours at our last place picked fruit and he would give some to us sometimes. This stuff does not make it on to the supermarket shelf it goes to China where they pay more. This stuff was like... The platonic form of a blueberry compared to a blueberry you would get in a supermarket. People would probably be happy to eat more fruit and veg if they tasted like they should.
@C_J_S Maybe so, but I've seen guys use soil depletion as some, like, excuse to not eat fruits and vegetables in the first place. All's I know is, my quality of life went up the more I ate snap peas, cucumbers, etc.
@C_J_S Makes sense. God gave us fruits and vegetables to eat, so presumably we should be eating a lot of them. It's one of the reasons my post workout drink is collagen+veggie powder, I eat veggies at lunch, etc.
@C_J_S@SuperLutheran i dunno who the hell was growing that, but home grown fruit adn veg generally tastes better than supermarket because a few factors, like they're allowed to fully ripen before being picked and shipped, or like in the case of tomatoes, refridgeration destroys their flavor, they grow a tomato that is modified to fully ripen all at once, which causes flavor loss, they're also picked early which doesn't leave them enough time to develope their sugars and flavor and they just gas them to make them red. it's kinda dumm
@SuperLutheran@C_J_S soil can be improved especially in a home garden, that's one of the things i'm learning about most, cuz how to grow individual crops is less important then knowing how to take care of my soil XD
@billy_hughes@UnityOstara@C_J_S I like pickled eggs, I like pickled sausage, I like pickled onions and garlic, there's a lot of pickled stuff I enjoy. But I hate pickles.
@SuperLutheran@billy_hughes@UnityOstara@C_J_S pickled cucumber, i dunno how someone can not like them, legit, in fact i've went around eating things i used to not like just to see, and i don't not like anything anymore, even tomatoes.
@SuperLutheran@C_J_S I love broccoli, snap peas, pickles! When I had a terrible muscle spasm last month a guy recommended me to drink pickle juice. It actually helped!
@billy_hughes@SuperLutheran@UnityOstara@C_J_S my beef steak plants are starting to bloom already, i might get some before it gets cold and i move them into the garage to stay alive so i can make cuttings for next year, also putting out basil next year to protecc
@billy_hughes@SuperLutheran@UnityOstara@C_J_S funny thing is it's just a generic name for big tomatoes and shape honestly have no idea what type of tomato it is, lemme read the package see if it actualyl has a proper name.
@billy_hughes@SuperLutheran@UnityOstara@C_J_S seed pack don't even know, it's just a large variety of tomato, either wayactually only 60 days to harvest apparently so i can expect some before winter sets in i guess.
@UnityOstara@billy_hughes@SuperLutheran@C_J_S look at this cucumber holding on for dear life, ipulled these pots away from my tomato plants cuz they were trying to climb them. then i gave them a tomato cage next to grandpa's accessibility ramp. it'd be neat if they decided to climb along the rails of the ramp XD
@billy_hughes@SuperLutheran@UnityOstara@C_J_S also got those pots killin' the shit out of hsi grace in those spots cuz well, OOPS my pots killed all the grass, may as well make it a garden bed :D
@billy_hughes@SuperLutheran@UnityOstara@C_J_S it's a bit late in the season for me, i can grow spring crops cuz fall is similar to it in terms fo weather but that'll be in for the year cept wha ti keep alive in the garage,
@Zealist@SuperLutheran@UnityOstara@C_J_S Actually got very cold very early on, may before winter started. It's been a pretty cold winter so far. Sadly we had a few warm weeks recently and all the snow had melted when I took my family to the Alps. And it's still pretty warm now 17C
