@0x4d6165 after hitting this, and despite some drawbacks

I have trained myself to do a lot of development in docker containers

I can't figure out the stack? "docker pull" it from someone who has

I have to do something screwy I know I'll never remember? A container never forgets.

It's got it issues, and I can't quite recommend it. Almost

But I will say it has avoided a lot of mess over several years now

@jhwgh1968 @0x4d6165 have you heard of distrobox? Honestly, if you spend most of your development time in containers, even for stuff that isn't specifically container-related, just as a development environment thing, I'd seriously check it out, it's really cool. I recently found out about it while learning about immutable linux distros. It's basically a hyper easy to use wrapper around docker/podman that integrates containers deeply with your system, which makes sense when you're not using them as server stuff, but just as a Dev environment.

@jhwgh1968 cool! :D oh also, you should check out podman over docker, it's a bit faster and lighter weight and doesn't require root access to run containers which means it's a bit more secure. Also, honestly, at this point if you set up all of your development environments inside of containers and you like distrobox, you might as well just move to an immutable Linux distro yourself since that's what they are oriented around lol. But I'm biased cuz that's my hyper fixation rn hehe
