   This happens if you've set the notifications column to just show mentions.

   There are two tabs at the top of the notifications column, one says "All" and the other "Mentions".

   If you set it to "All", you will get all notifications.

   If you set it to "Mentions", it will still play the notification sounds for other events (follows, boosts etc) but will only show you notifications where you were mentioned (replies etc).

     Does anyone else on here sometimes get the notification sound but no notification to go with it?
