@thomasfuchs With current advancements in battery tech, this is only a matter of time and my point already counts very much for cars. Especially if you consider an efficiency of more than 90% for an electric motor.

- A coal plant has an efficiency of around 40%
- A gas plant can get up to around 60%
- A combustion engine car can only translate up to around 25% into motionMost of the rest is wasted as heat.
Getting rid of fossile fuels by electrifying transport and switching to renewables automatically leads to huge energy savings.

Eric Eggert (yatil@yatil.social)'s status on Wednesday, 26-Jul-2023 05:37:15 JST Eric Eggert @bastianallgeier @thomasfuchs The local brewery had an exhibition of their E-Truck and after 3 hours of driving, the range was still at the maximum due to recuperation. (To be fair, I assume that the truck was not fully loaded for the exhibition, but at least for short-haul it seems to be a decent enough option w/ DC fast charging at night.)
