   I love the movie Hackers. Its silly and fun. But seriously. Who would believe that a public school has a Olympic sized swimming pool ON THE ROOF?! _AND_ Why would that be cool and interesting to go see on your first day of class? It makes no sense. The scene only exists so that the sprinkler hack can happen as revenge.

   Also.. Wouldn't an Olympic sized swimming pools _water_ weigh a few tons?

     @miah @jeffhorton I've looked down from NYC highrises and seen rooftop pools. I do agree it sounds implausible, but people fall for dumb stuff. Like snipe hunting.

     @jeffhorton One of the schools I went to had a pool as well, its where I took swimming classes during the summer. But it wasn't on the roof =)

     @miah my high school had a pool, a diving pool, also had a half section house built indoors for the trades kids. We were also the only public HS for the region though.

     @miah We had a pretty sizeable hot tub on the roof of the Porn Palace (popular during Friday "Happy Hour" parties, good idea to wait a couple days after the weekend to use again). It was a nice perk.

     Alas, after we moved into the SF Amory, I failed to convince management to put a hot tub into one of the turrets. "Safety hazard" they said.

     They eventually put a hot tub in the drill court. It was, not used much because: that building is old and dank and there were stale exhaust fumes because people parked in the drill court.

     @roadriverrail @jeffhorton Ya I get roof top pools, but like.. OLYMPIC SIZED? Thats what gets me. I mean, I know modern building architecture is like.. capable of nearly anything at this point but still. Just seems like a bad idea for a public school.

     @roadriverrail Oh, The Porn Palace -> Armory move was circa 2007.

     Last I checked that past employer had sold the building for a hefty profit in 2018 ($65 million, purchase price: $14.5 million circa 2006). I was terminated from that employer in 2014 (for the second time, first termination in 2009), so my own tales have mostly to do with a very specific "adult" content producer, unless you want to talk about my dad, who was stationed there after he was drafted into the National Guard during the Vietnam era.

     @teajaygrey @miah @jeffhorton I lived in the Bay Area until 2016, went to many a happy hour across the street from there with my friends, and sometimes had business there myself. There's a nonzero chance we have a distant social overlap.
