@Polychrome@bartholin You get an email up front asking you to login. It's pretty normal and actually reassuring that companies delete their customer data after a couple of years of inactivity. I anonymize my client's data a year after they stop being my client as well. It's good practice.
@seb_tmg@bartholin Ubisoft has since responded to the article stating that accounts which have game purchases attached to them will be spared deletion for inactivity.
So in effect your business practice is now worse than Ubisoft's. :meow3cSmirk:
@Polychrome@bartholin I disagree. I need to keep transaction data for 5 years for tax reasons after that I'm recommended to delete it for privacy reasons. Even in healthcare it's not uncommon to delete patient data after a person has been diseased for over 10 years. I only anonymize data for the study / research value. Ubisoft is thinking in similar terms for good reason. After 4 years and refusing to login, they assume you're no longer their customer or maybe dead.
