   do you still have to go to theaters to see movies when they come out or can you just buy the dvd right away these days

     @aeva These days pretty much every movie has a multiple-months-long delay becoming available to watch at home. It really sucks for those of us who don’t act like the COVID pandemic is over.

     @ch0ccyra1n @aeva For the films I have cared about past the official peak of the pandemic, as long as they have been showing in cinemas no discs or streams have been out, so all torrents have been telesyncs where you can barely hear what people are saying.

     @aeva sometimes you're able to torrent or buy a dvd right away, sometimes not. It's rather inconsistent

     @aeva Sites like Vudu usually get rentals within a couple weeks of theatrical release now, but it's like $20, "theater at home" pricing. Digital purchase is usually like a month or so, but it varies by studio of course. Nobody's really letting you watch their movie day one on streaming apps anymore, David Zaslav put an end to that real quick.

     @oceaniceternity @aeva Highly recommend falling for the hype if you are able. They are both very good films with excellent writing, cinematography, directing and acting.

     Five hours is a long time, I don't get people who don't eat a proper meal in the middle. =)

     @aeva I don't know and I don't care, because I haven't bought a DVD in a long time. It's the pirates life for me.

     That said I do like to go to the movies. It's a vibe, of going and chilling in the theater. I like it. I haven't been to Barbie or Oppenheimer yet but I intend to go to both.
