     There are lots of desert resort towns with golf courses, and yes, it's pretty American. There are several around Palm Springs, California. They chose those areas because they thought it would be attractive to retirees.

     The view of the suburbs coming in to land made me despair of there being any future for humanity.

     @ajlanes @goatsarah @Cassandra There are a load of golf courses in Tucson too - though I believe they're required to water them with some variety of waste water at least.

     @ajlanes @goatsarah @Cassandra That was in Tucson, and was a patch of grass outside a McDonalds IIRC. Presumably much cheaper than the water would have been.

     How long has it been since the Colorado reached the sea?
