   I love Nurse Chapel of ST SNW, a wonderful character in multiple ways and full of surprises.

   But if SNW is supposed to have some level of continuity with TOS, I don't see how SNW Chapel develops into TOS Chapel.

     @ocdtrekkie I adore the characters in SNW, wouldn't change a thing, and I personally don't have a need for continuity with TOS, but I think it's officially supposed to have that?

     @clacke I am really curious how Dr. M'Benga ends up serving under Dr. McCoy after being the Chief Medical Officer himself.

     But these roles were so minimal in TOS it is not hard to rewrite them a bit without drastic continuity problems. And the depth they added to Pike's TOS stories was still a work of pure brilliance.

     @clacke Is this supposed to have continuity with our “default” ST TOS timeline? Or is SNW a different timeline - sort of a Star Trek multiverse equivalent?

     Oooon the other hand Chapel in TOS isn't really given much to do on screen, so maybe all of her personality that we see in SNW is just off screen in TOS ...

     @clacke It does but Trek has *always* been subject to some retconning. And yeah, sometimes temporal activity is used as an excuse for that.
