I'll be honest, man. Sometimes when I see how easily and eagerly people are to excuse and justify all kinds of violence against the poor, homeless people, women, trans people, nonbinary people, sex workers, BIPOC folk, Jewish people, immigrants, and all the intersections therein, it really bums me out. The only thing more mystifying than how easily people will justify violence, is how offended they get when I call them out as the worthless pieces of shit they are.

Back when on Twitter, somebody drew a distinction I like between “nice” and “kind.”YOU: Oh, I’m so chilly!
KIND BUT NOT NICE: Whatcha complaining about? Here, take this sweater. You might as well keep the damned thing, I don’t care.
NICE BUT NOT KIND: Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that. That must be awful. [leaves as never speaks to you again]

People say the most heinous, racist, evil shit in a Civil Tone™ all the time (see, cf: Charles Murray). Calling these motherfuckers out for the worthless evil cowards they are may not be "civil," but it's a hell of a lot nicer.
