     この問題は自分も考えています。どこまで自前でやるのかという話です。
     
     究極的には電力も自家発電が必要ではないでしょうかね。
     
     gnusocial.jpはGMOグループの共有サーバーを使っています。安いからです。
     
     サーバーは、契約で信頼できるところを使うでいいのではないでしょうか？自分でデータを管理できますので、不自由なサービスの依存に比べて、大幅な前進です。

     Yes I saw a lot of AWS users in Japan. I think they have exactly the same mitm issue as Clownflare.

     「Solution 3: Get a VPS at a small company (least recommended)」（小企業のVPSホスティングサービス）と話ですね。
     これは可能ですが、出来れば自分のサーバーの方が良いと思います。

     Although FreedomBox itself is still hard for normies to use (and it uses systemd), the idea is interesting and it also has a list of hardware that can run without blobs. (Rpi requires blobs)

     @udon I used Raspberry Pi more as an example that everybody knows about.
     Might as well have said PINE64's Quartz64, but it supports far fewer distro's (best supported is Mankojaro, which is SoystemD, and kind of the Ubuntu of Arch-based distro's), and isn't as easy to tinker around with for those who have never worked with a serial console cable/connector and GNU Screen before.

     自分のサーバーがよいというのは管理人もそう思います。しかし、自宅サーバーはコストや手間がかかります。グローバルIPアドレスに対応した安定したインターネット回線、サーバーの置き場所も必要です。
     
     何か大規模なサービス、ビジネス、アダルトサービスでもしない限り、効率が悪いです。
     
     資本主義社会ですので、結局経済問題になります。
     
     全部自分でやるのが理想なのですが、なかなか手が出ません…
