<hat="serious">That's actually quite an interesting question about emojis. Sometimes they're used as sort of ideograms and assembled to form "phrases", and ambiguous ones at that, but when used alone, their meaning (intended as well as perceived) may vary *a lot*. Recently, a thumbs-up emoji was ruled to be a valid, legal assent to a contract, despite one of the parties claiming they used it merely to acknowledge the *message* about the contract.</hat>

Sometimes I come across people, often 40+, who still use 🙂 thinking it’s a genuine smile, while it reads super passive aggressive to everybody else. My mind immediately goes “woah, what did I say?“ haha.
