      This app always brought joy — in the form of slightly illegally obtained “free software” (we understood that term differently).

      This reminded me I once made an X-Copy inspired frontend for dd on BeOS when learning C++. I think the X rotated while copying.

      @Polychrome not to mention Amiga and xcopy were able to make a copy of a floppy disc to three external drives in a single run.

      @LambdaCalculus @CyberpunkLibrarian @miah @Polychrome @Jetengineweasel I was having a conversation with a friend a few months ago about how much fun the Cyberpunk 2020 rulebooks are but they feel so quaint in their portrayal of individual “roles” and equipment considering that in the real 2020 the best tool for all of the different gigs is probably just a smartphone

      @Polychrome Oh man. We had... It might've been called TOS Copy? For DOS. It had a look similar to these, it would yell out the percentage completion, and if you left it alone for a while it would go to sleep.

      By which I mean, the screen would dim and it would snore.

      @bgrinter @miah @LambdaCalculus @CyberpunkLibrarian I had the Logitech Scanman Color in that photo with Windows 3.x. It was available between 1992 to 1996 before Logitech replaced it with the Scanman Color 2000 so the photo is probably sometime from that era, maybe a bit after.
