Yesterday lunchtime featured learning how to weave jute twine into slightly more robust cords, one of which I then test singed to remove the fuzzies and gently oiled and it came out okay as a small 2.5-3mm utility cord (I then wrapped a present in it). I think I could make the 2 ply version neater with practice on the splices and now wondering about making a 3x2 ply version.

1. Battered green desk surface, on the far left is some floral washi tape attached to the edge, then left to right we have three ply reverse twist - thin jute cordage which is darker than the others because its been cleaned and oiled. Then in the middle is 2 strand wrap where each strand is made from 2 (its quite thick and inflexible). Then we have regular 2 ply reverse wrap, it looks more uneven than the others partially because it includes splices whereas the others are made from single lines. Finally we have a bottle of Rimmel 60 second clear nail polish for scale.
