could talk to johann today, after i came home to get clear infos about the state of foundkey. i delibratly waited to post something on public before johann tho.

first i want to thank @Johann150@genau.qwertqwefsday.eu for all the work on foundkey, as well as all the contributors. foundkey felt like the right fork for me to pick, when it surfaced. and i did like running it. i also want to thank johann for all the support, despite my instance being super wonky and being a pain at times. i hope this new path is gonna lessen the burden on him and that the project can keep going. i will be available to the project for maintaining the mod tracker and maybe some other help, if i can and if time allows it.

as for mkab: its clear that i have to migrate the instance. as for now, i need to figure out, to which *key i wanna move and to plan things out. this might take a little while (especially with 2 weeks vacation in between 🥴 ) but i will inform with details when i figured a plan out.

only thing i have left to say for now: :blobcatsalute: it was an honor to sail under the floofers flag. and thanks for your work and dedication

    :berifloof:

**Updated maintenance status for Foundkey** When Foundkey was originally forked, there was [an idea of how it would work](https://akkoma.dev/FoundKeyGang/FoundKey/src/branch/main/ROADMAP.md). The realization has set in that after almost a year after the fork, we are not getting closer but farther from that initial idea. The initial idea called Foundkey a "community project" and hoped for several contributors, but this has not happened. Because most work was being done by a single volunteer contributor, and this situation is not sustainable, Foundkey will enter a status of **limited maintenance**. The understanding of this limited maintenance status is that in general no new features will be considered for addition and only some bugs may be fixed, more or less depending on mood. Because of known performance issues, the **recommended maximum size** for instances that want to continue using Foundkey will be **20 users**. Larger instances will not receive support for performance issues they may encounter. Instance administrators that do want to continue using Foundkey are explicitly reminded of [sections 15](https://akkoma.dev/FoundKeyGang/FoundKey/src/commit/29320a751d6d9c595a9730866ff94c167d076326/LICENSE#L587-L596) [and 16](https://akkoma.dev/FoundKeyGang/FoundKey/src/commit/29320a751d6d9c595a9730866ff94c167d076326/LICENSE#L598-L608) of [Foundkey's license](https://akkoma.dev/FoundKeyGang/FoundKey/src/branch/main/LICENSE) (Disclaimer of Warranty and Limitation of Liability). This updated maintenance status is also reflected in an [update of Foundkey's README and CONTRIBUTING guidelines](https://akkoma.dev/FoundKeyGang/FoundKey/commit/415e84daf02425553019785f72c583ff89ee0651).

@puniko@mk.absturztau.be @Johann150@genau.qwertqwefsday.eu mkab was my intro to fedi, misskey, and later foundkey (and the jank that came with it) This feels like an end of an era. :ainecry:

@puniko @Johann150@genau.qwertqwefsday.eu I don't know Johann personally so I thought a reply to this would be the perfect opportunity to say:
Thank you for Foundkey. I'm relatively new to fedi in general, and started here on MKAB but foundkey has felt so much like home. i remember going through all the instances before settling on mkab and just, something about foundkey feels so comfy and cozy for my (weird) brain. i feel like my intro and experience to fedi would of been a lot different without foundkey so again, thank you johann, and everyone else thats worked on it :mudrock_love:
