Polychrome :blabcat: (polychrome@poly.cybre.city)'s status on Saturday, 08-Jul-2023 23:49:28 JST Polychrome :blabcat: @marynelson8 "Mastodon" is a bit of a hairy thing to compare in this case because there's so many applications for the fediverse, and so many servers - all individually owned with no central authority and different kinds of software. So far none of them (including Mastodon) harvest user data but given there's no singular controlling body like with the corporate owned services things could fragment and change.
Fortunately the community would react very quickly the moment anyone is found to be doing this. So what Wired is actually testing here isn't so much "Mastodon" but the overall fediverse community spirit.-
