Lest you consider much of what the GOP voted to do during its most recent term in the House as mindless blather, consider this irresponsible vote, which went nowhere in the Senate (thank goodness): With the power of the purse, they ignored what would need to be abolished, and voted mindlessly for this unbelievable proposal.
Need I say it? We need to vote these irresponsible people out of office.
I would like to remind readers that the New York Times (much-hated here and elsewhere, but bear with me) published this extensive interactive editorial which evaluates candidate Donald J. Trump's: 1) moral fitness; 2) principled leadership; 3) character; 4) words; and 5) the rule of law.
The screen shot below summarizes this lengthy editorial: Trump is unfit.
Vice-President Kamala Harris, after accepting the nomination of her party:
"In many ways, Donald Trump is not a serious man. But the consequences of putting Donald Trump back in the White House are extremely serious... And we know what a second Trump term would look like. It's all in Project 2025. But, America, we are not going back."
"We are charting a new way forward to a future with a strong and growing middle class." "We will create an 'opportunity economy'."
Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's speech on the role of the Commander in Chief truly laid out the differences between the candidates, and said, "My fellow Americans, there is only one choice. When she takes office in January, our allies will cheer and our enemies will fear."
How can someone be this tone-deaf about what it takes to persuade women to vote for their ticket? First he insults "childless cat ladies". Then he tells older women they're only good for one thing.
Good luck with that line, fellas.
"JD Vance: 'Whole Purpose Of The Postmenopausal Female' Is To Care For Grandkids"
Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) spoke about the Francis Scott Key Bridge accident, noting that VP Kamala Harris was one of the first to call and assure him that the federal government would be with his state all the way.
He noted that they got the port reopened not in 11 months, as estimated, but in only 11 weeks.
He celebrated the promise of America, from the immigrant bridge workers to his own story, to VP Harris' story.
The current grand dame of Democratic politics, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, still has it. She rapidly enumerated the achievements of Democrats in office during the Biden/Harris administration.
She remembered Tim Walz as a member of Congress and describes his time there.
"Let us not forget who assaulted democracy on January 6. But let us not forget who saved democracy on that day--we did."
In this election we are called to reject autocracy and choose democracy.
Former President Donald J. Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in furtherance of crimes, as part of a conspiracy to defraud the American people, to keep damaging information about his candidacy for President hidden during his 2016 campaign.
He was indicted by a grand jury and found guilty by a jury of New York citizens.
His conviction took place through the process of American Rule of Law.
Preventing women in emergency situations from getting the healthcare they need to save their lives due to disinterested parties' non-medical opinions feels like a reduction in human rights for women.
Allow women and their doctors make medical decisions regarding their health--not a state legislature, AG, or court system.
