   @gulovsen Scary. Quote boosting in that scenario would be an extremely toxic catalyst. One thing hopefully this Threats thing has done is to make us realize how precious what we've got here is and how maybe it is fragile and needs defending.

     I know the debate surrounding federating with Threads as well as the debate surrounding things like adding quote boosts and search to the Mastodon UX has already been beaten to death, but...

     Imagine Libs of TikTok searching for people posting about trans issues on Mastodon and then quote boosting those posts with their usual rage-baiting to get people to dog-pile on folks here on Mastodon.

     That's the fear I believe a lot of people have and I 100% think that it is a legitimate fear.
