@BowsacNoodle Yeah, absolutely.
And there are guys who will do things like pulverize the steak in a blender and claim it's now a liquid made from meat not meat. But you're clearly not doing something like that. So I'd say you're fine. And if it still weighs on you, mention it next time you go to Confession (though I suspect your Confessor's response will be similar to mine.)

@BowsacNoodle So, here's the thing.
There is nothing metaphysically special about meat. At the end of the day, the point is sacrifice to honor Christ's sacrifice for us. Meat just happens to be what the early Church chose as the standard sacrifice. So, as a rule of thumb, if you are trying your best to keep the abstinence, you're fine. Especially since in this case you remain within the letter of the law. In fact, I would say it puts you on more solid ground than some of these guys who follow the letter of the law but try and skirt it as much as possible.

@Nou Thanks friend. I am opposed to trying to be jewish in my practice of faith.
>Oh well it says no meat so I'm going to have impossible burgers every day tee-hee!
Like besides the fact those are disgusting processed garbage, I see the point of fasting as deliberately avoiding the thing I want. Denying the body so that I may break it as one does a wild horse. Getting super close via artificial flavors and technicalities is lame and defeats the purpose.

@BowsacNoodle The USCCB says broths are fine.

@Nou It does seem a little sketchy but the amount of meat is insanely tiny. The only ramen I could find was chicken and I'm fighting a cold, so I'll go for it. Thanks borther.

Catholic and Orthodox bros— do you consider chicken or beef ramen acceptable for ordinary Fridays when you're supposed to fast? It's technically got a small amount of meat in that bullion. I'm talking maruchan or one of the other grocery tier ramen not anything fancy.
