     @eris@akko.disqordia.space Oh, is the conversation over there different? Only got lots and lots of messages of people flooding my timelines talking about how it's necessary to defederate, because of the stuff Meta/Threads is probably gonna do. Only got to know from them that there are instances that actually want to federate.

Don't really get why people are considering this - aside from...well...money, but well. Hope you're on some instances that are in on the FediPact (https://fedipact.online/)?

     @eris Agreed honestly. That should be a big piece of the conversation. Many instances are not in the business of selling advertising spots or data and many users wouldn't realistically consent to "Threads" doing it. If instance users suddenly found out their data was being sold by an external party, they'd move to an instance that blocked "Threads". Moreover, it'd put instance owners directly at legal risks for issues Meta is causing.
     
     In other words, Meta's business model does not and WILL NEVER be compatible with the Fediverse.
