   @anselmschueler @mathr yep. this is the default and *meant* to reduce the file disk requirement for mastodon. Can't be changed without changing the sourcecode and since I run the instance fully vanilla this is not happening. If it will be added as an option i'd enable better quality over disk size reduction.

     @anselmschueler all arrive as MP3 here (also uploaded MP3 will likely be transcoded, potentially increasing size and reducing quality)

     Interesting that Mastodon supports audio attachments. Let's test the file formats! Here goes FLAC
