   1. A(nother) federated Twitter alternative. Afaik not compatible with Fedi but I think Alex is in the early stages of building a bridge, like he did with Nostr.

   (cf Gab, Truth Social, which are compatible with Fedi as they’re built on the same software protocols but have deliberately stopped federating.)

     @Flick so same as mastodon, whoever runs the server makes the rules and it's not clear to people going there it's not one thing or company...

     @FeartnTired Mastodon is another piece of software, like Soapbox (which Spinster uses) that lets you use Fedi. In my examples, Masto is more like Gab/Truth than like Bluesky (which is more like Nostr: have you seen the people with long strings of random characters as usernames? That’s Nostr people).

     (With Soapbox, too, whoever runs the server decides. It’s just that we’re on an instance where the mods decided — generally — not to do anything and treat us like adults.)

     I don’t know enough about Bluesky to say if it will be more mods and block lists or open and free speech, but yes, I suspect the former.
