Soapbox, an alternative mastodon UI created by @alex, is accessible at https://fe.noagendasocial.com.

I haven't gotten around to customizing it yet. Suggestions are welcome.

The new Soapbox frontend is an alternative to the existing mastodon UI, not a replacement. You can use either/both UIs.

Soapbox is pretty nice, and the backend (rebased) is also nice as Alex & co are working on adding new features regularly

@eriner @alex *amazing* I'd been thinking of hopping because of how musty Mastodon had felt, but would have hated to leave the community. Thanks for this!

It's really comfe, only thing I am really missing from pleroma-fe is reacting with all of the unicode emojis except just a few different ones, other than that it's great! (I know Alex keeps getting bugged about the emoji reacts constantly lmao)

Note that only email (not username) will work on your server. The input field name is misleading due to different backends supporting different features.

@eriner @alex I'm not sure why yet, but it doesn't accept my email (or username) and password for some reason. using 1password auto-fill. I do have 2FA enabled for my acct.

Chromium is no worse than FireFox ethically, but it's more popular and works a lot better. It powers Node.js and even Electron. FireFox is a dying project not keeping up with modern web.

      We do support it, reluctantly.

Also Brave is basically the same codebase free from big tech, so that's the obvious choice.

@alex @VBurner The one single reason why FireFox can even be considered better than Chrome-based browsers is because it exposes extension functionality that makes it better for privacy.

@brad @fry @alex nah mastodon just doesn't support 2fa for OAuth. You can disable 2fa, sign in, and re-enable. A pending issue to add oauth app passwords exists here: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/10661

@fry @eriner @alex same here. Looks like a misconfiguration? Token endpoint is returning "error": "invalid_grant","error_description": "The provided authorization grant is invalid, expired, revoked, does not match the redirection URI used in the authorization request, or was issued to another client."

Note this happens due to incorrect deployment. A new deployment can't replace the old one, it has to be deployed *over* the past deployment.

I've noticed this on fe.soapbox.pub as well as remote sites I don't control. Opening the site displays a loading indicator that never goes away. Logs:
      2. No result found on File_thumbnail lookup.
