     @Humpleupagus @NailBomb The problem with horror movies is that they prime you for the idea that this kind of horror is fake and just in movies. Anyone whose seen any gore threads from Africa knows that Friday the 13th is considerably cleaner and less violent than any average day in Africa.

     Yes. Your best odds of living is fighting on your feet at the scene where the violence began, not beginning and hoping they'll let you live, i.e. you have to be as violent, if not more violent, than those who try to harm you.

     @JedDrudge @Humpleupagus @NailBomb Running just makes you tired and lowers the amount respect your opponent has for you which makes attaining peace much harder in the long run. Retreats should only ever be tactical in nature. Defense should always be the prelude to offense or you are doomed to be run down and slaughtered.

     Fleeing is a defensive option in some cases, but sometimes it isn't and other times it isn't a compete solution, the violence may be merely delayed. Plus, running usually requires turning your back, which is a risk. And if you're going to run, you best know the territory better than your opponent.
     
     I always laugh when some criminal gets caught in the creek by my house when running from the cops. It happens every few years. They don't know the area and the access, and put themselves at a serious disadvantage in addition to the disadvantage of low ground.
