   There is one legitimate reason to have attended the meeting of fediverse admins with Facebook/Meta and that’s if your goal was to leak the contents.

   (We’re waiting.)

   Personally, I don’t see how I can trust any fediverse admin either stupid enough or malleable enough to sign an NDA with Facebook/Meta.

   No one made you sign an NDA with a surveillance capitalist that this space stands in diametric opposition to. You did that to yourselves. Don’t be surprised if there are consequences.

     @aral Imo the consequences are already showing.

     When an admin declares support for Meta, they might as well post “I want to tell you all I sold you to the company most of you just fled from. They offered me a lot of money - and you all little ants and your opinions about protecting your data etc, never were especially important to me/us anyway. Cheers!”

     I think people will leave instances that doesn’t protect them, some might look at self hosting etc, some might leave the fediverse for good.

     @cbt @MariaLiv When you’re dealing with corporations and governments, leaks are a legitimate form of resistance. We wouldn’t know half as much as we do if it hadn’t been for Edward Snowden and other whistleblowers through the years.

     What’s irresponsible is signing an NDA with a surveillance capitalist like Meta/Facebook.

     But clearly we’re not going to see eye to eye on this because you don’t see anything wrong with Facebook or surveillance capitalism in general.

     @cbt I am not a tech person, but I still see the obvious danger in inviting Meta to the fediverse.

     I don't see why there should be anything wrong with people who recognize that danger.

     And there's not necessarily anything wrong with those of you who doesn't look at that danger the same way we do, you might just be uninformed.

     But maybe it's time to get informed, and then you can come back and try again.

     @MariaLiv it would be fine to ask for openess, but pushing leakings is entirely unresponsible and devicive if you want to represent a community.
