It’s highly likely that Meta will build search for the Fediverse. That is, if Google doesn’t do it first.

Chris Trottier (atomicpoet@calckey.social)'s status on Friday, 23-Jun-2023 12:12:57 JST Chris Trottier You think #P92 (a.k.a, #Threads) will be built without one of the most essential features of most modern social networks?
Most #Instagram user—who will be the primary audience for Threads—will expect search. No, they won’t just expect it. They’ll assume it’s coming.
And #Meta would be foolish to not give them search. -

Chris Trottier (atomicpoet@calckey.social)'s status on Friday, 23-Jun-2023 12:19:17 JST Chris Trottier Technically, it’s not that hard to index the Fediverse. Hell, you don’t even need ActivityPub to do it. If you have the budget to do it, Fediverse search is trivial.
The reason good Fediverse search engines haven’t existed yet is simply because, until this year, no corporation bothered to care about it. -

What options would a single-user have. You said even if you Federated with instances that Federated with meta, you would be searchable?
I don't like it, but will probably accept it for a public facing pseudonym account. I'm just curious what options more vulnerable instances would have.

The only reason people are oblivious to this is because you have to go to Google to find the indexing. But what do you want to bet that Google will eventually provide more specialized search for the Fediverse? And that it will be real-time—akin to Twitter search?

Technically, it’s possible but I think most people would prefer to make public posts.
