>Star Ocean Second Story R is happening (Probably, heavily possible)
Fucking finally, I still have the original 2 disc set but it's nice to see that one of the other amazing first three SO games is getting attention. Hopefully they touch up Til the End of Time relatively soon after.

@Sugizo @Zealist Pretty much all of the early to mid 90s action rpgs out of Japan were janky. Things like freezing the game action for magic animations was even in the ones that have held up best like Tales of Phantasia.

@Zealist Last one I enjoyed was the third one. Every entry after have all been mediocre which sucks since SO, and Chrono Trigger, pioneered a really good real time combat system. Hopefully Tri-Ace takes a step back and reassess how to make a good Sci-fi JRPG again.

@Sugizo @Zealist Chrono Trigger was turnbased, they just used the same ATB system as the Final Fantasy games of the time and changed how the battles were displayed

@Zealist @Sugizo That was from 2000 or 2001, it wasn't bad since they'd worked out a lot of the problems by then. Remakes of those old 90s games usually have to rework a lot of stuff to be enjoyable these days. Seiken Densetsu 3/Trials of Mana remake from a few years ago was good because they took an unfinished/somewhat buggy game and really fixed the issues (the stamina bar in it and Secret of Mana was the major dogshit mechanic) while keeping all of the things that made it good.
