In other boycott news, while leaving Reddit is making me sad, I'm actively pleased to be boycotting Target. They had so much queer-friendly goodwill compared to the other retailers, and have thrown it away to keep active terrorists as customers and drive away their queer customers.

I may feel less pleased to be shunning Target next time I have to buy pants, but I'll figure it out. I cannot believe I tolerated Target employing private security people for SO LONG, and then the second an actual threat happens, Target crumples like a wet piece of paper. It disgusts me. Boooooooo.

@MakBerberovic Where did you see me say anything about half the things you mentioned? I specifically said that the tradeoff for accepting private security in their stores, for me, was that those security guards be used to protect workers and customers. I have spoken to and read the words of trans and queer Target workers, and not one is bringing up these strawman-y points you have.

If anyone was hoping to avoid queerphobia and transphobia from raging bigots who like to act out in stores, why would they work for, or shop at, the formerly most queer-friendly large retailer?

None of us are safe from street violence, we're at war.

If I were the one making the decisions (and I would never be), I would have stuck to my guns about the products, used my security forces for actual security instead of policing ordinary shoppers, and offered generous severance to anyone who felt so unsafe they wanted to leave their job over it.
