    Here’s my guideline:

    If you can’t afford to tip, don’t eat out. inb4 “Make the establishment pay the wages,” I wholly agree but that’s not the system they have right now. Pay up or get out.

      Servers (where tipping is the norm) are paid next to nothing so not tipping is immoral and exploitative, assuming they provide good service.

      Those are niggers, they want something for free. Waiters and waitresses and all the others in the service industry just want to be compensated fairly, which I entirely agree with. It’s a matter of exploitation and not enough public pressure being mounted against people who would rather keep it all for themselves off the backs of their workers.

      Now, I’m no whiny communist but I do believe that unionization is good and we should join their fight in getting them a good wage. Not talking new iPhone every night wages but you know, something reasonable that makes their profession sustainable. Eventually, with how people are, they’re not going to want to do the job solely because of how awful people are.

      Cops, paramedics, firefighters, all dropping out because they’re sick of the general public. This will happen to service workers. Let’s not make the subject of their compensation one of the reasons why they collectively throw in the towel.

      Pisses me off.

      (Except when it’s a small local place and I know the owners)

      I will be goddamned if I am tipping a barista because they pre checked 20% tip and then swivelled the touch screen thing around after I bought my pre made coffee 🙄

      Cry about it lol, whether it’s a local place or not has no bearing on the servers circumstance, or your immoral and unjustified behaviour because “muh corporations”. If you don’t like that, make your own food.

      But yah, tipping baristas or ppl that don’t actually provide service is dumb.

      I think suggested tips are fine, or requiring them in certain situations (like for large groups since it requires a lot of staff to serve them and ppl are cheap and greedy af).

      Right, but ppl that work as servers aren’t necessarily the height of society.. which is why tipping is done at the end… it’s more like “I should provide good service because then I’ll get a better tip (unless it’s a nig)”.
