     I see zero pros to forcing phone numbers ad it will be why I continue to not use it.

     Although from reading the thread, it looks like phone numbers will still be required.

     I think there are pros and cons to that.

     Spam seems like a dumb reason to me. I don't get spam on any messaging program I use and i'm on Matrix; XMPP; and Session. It is also a huge tradeoff, giving up a huge piece of info to solve a potential problem you may never need solved. I also want a different solution which is why I refuse to use Signal.

     The pro is that it supposedly is better for preventing spam. Tho I would imagine ppl can generate fake numbers.

     Tho I'd still prefer a solution without numbers being required.
