   @shauna @vtk I posted up-thread about LyX which is a GUI frontend for latex. If you're willing to learn a little latex then I think it will solve your problem.

   You can start in LyX just writing text and knowing nothing and it will work, but you'll need to eventually learn some of the latex document-structure terminology, if not the syntax, to get the output you want. But if you can write markdown or html, you can handle latex easily.

     @vtk LaTeX is definitely one of those things where I want to know it, but I don't want to go through the process of learning it...also luckily this doc doesn't need any math formatting.
