   An apples and oranges comparison is pretty fair. They're both round fruits with multiple seeds, both suitable for eating or juicing raw and the orange is even called "Chinese apple" in half of the European languages.

   Most of the time what people should be saying is that it's like comparing e.g. apples and lemonade if they're slightly related but not really fair to compare, or in severe cases maybe even apples and bicycles.

     I used to use apples and helicopters rather than bicycles 😅 .. Apples and helicopters.
